Chapter 1606 (Title 10, U.S. Code) Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve:
Who may apply?

Soldiers who are part of the reserve component (Army National Guard o Army Reserve).
  • It is the responsibility of the soldier member to request this benefit in their unit.
  • The Commander needs to sign this request, and also is the responsibility of the soldier member to send this request to their respective VA Regional Office.

Chapter 1607 (Title 10, U.S. Code) Reserve Education Assistance Program (REAP):
Who may apply?

Veteran Soldiers who are part of the reserve component (Army National Guard o Army Reserve) who were mobilized due to a federal activation.
  • Mobilized during or after the September 11, 2001, for 90 consecutive days or more.

The eligible student will receive monthly: Effective October 1st of 2013.

Chapter 30 (Title 38, U.S. Code) Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty Educational Assistance Program:
Who may apply?

Soldiers who were on Active Duty on the Armed Forces of the United States.
  • The soldier must have an honorable discharge.

Chapter 33 (Title 38, U.S. Code) Post 9/11 GI Bill:
Who may apply?

Veterans who served on the Army Reserve, Army National Guard or Active Duty. Depends of the length of time the veteran was on active duty is the eligibility percent he/she qualify. This chapter can be transfer to your dependents.
  • If you served at least 90 aggregate days on active duty after September 10, 2001.
  • To transfer this chapter, the veteran must transfer the benefit to their dependents.
  • The dependents must fill out the VA form 22-1990E “Application for family members to use transferred benefits” to use this benefit.

Depends of the length of time the veteran was on active duty is the eligibility percent he/she qualify. The monthly amount depends on the eligibility percent.


The eligible student will receive monthly: Effective October 1st of 2013.

Chapter 35 (Title 38, U.S. Code) Dependent’s Educational Assistance Program:
Who may apply?

If a veteran have a 100% compensation given by VA, his/her dependents can be eligible to this chapter.
  • If you served at least 90 aggregate days on active duty after September 10, 2001.
  • To transfer this chapter, the veteran must transfer the benefit to their dependents.
  • The dependents must fill out the VA form 22-1990E “Application for family members to use transferred benefits” to use this benefit.
