96%\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: justify;min-width: 48%\">\n<blockquote>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\">En respuesta a la pandemia mundial de COVID-19, el gobierno de los Estados Unidos ha promulgado el <a id=\"cares-act\" href=\"#\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">CARES Act<\/span><\/a> para proporcionar, entre otras cosas, apoyo financiero a los estudiantes para cubrir gastos relacionados con la interrupci\u00f3n de las operaciones del campus debido al coronavirus (incluidos los gastos elegibles bajo el costo de asistencia a clases, mejor conocido como cost of attendance, tales como alimentos, vivienda, materiales del curso, tecnolog\u00eda, atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica y cuidado infantil).<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\">La Secretaria del Departamento de Educaci\u00f3n Federal, la Dra. Betsy DeVos, en su <a id=\"comunicado-9-abril\" href=\"#\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">comunicado del 9 de abril de 2020<\/span><\/a>, anunci\u00f3 a las instituciones de educaci\u00f3n superior de la naci\u00f3n americana que para tener acceso a estos fondos, se deb\u00edan firmar unos acuerdos con el Departamento, a los fines de reconocer los t\u00e9rminos y condiciones aplicables a estos fondos. De igual manera, en su <a id=\"comunicado-21-abril\" href=\"#\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">comunicado del 21 de abril de 2020<\/span><\/a> estableci\u00f3 las instrucciones necesarias para el acceso al cincuenta porciento restante de la partida de los fondos del CARES Act para el uso de la Instituci\u00f3n (Recipient&#8217;s Institutional Costs).<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\">El Departamento de Educaci\u00f3n Federal estableci\u00f3 la <a id=\"metodologia\" href=\"#\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">metodolog\u00eda<\/span><\/a> para determinar la <a id=\"asignacion-fondos\" href=\"#\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">asignaci\u00f3n de fondos<\/span><\/a> correspondientes a cada una de las instituciones de educaci\u00f3n superior. La documentaci\u00f3n para este proyecto denominado At UPRP, We Care, se complet\u00f3 a trav\u00e9s del portal grants.gov, recibiendo aprobaci\u00f3n para comenzar el proyecto el 24 de abril. En conjunto con el paquete de aplicaci\u00f3n para esta ayuda, la Instituci\u00f3n firm\u00f3 con el gobierno federal un acuerdo, donde se compromete a cumplir con varios de requisitos para el desembolso de esta ayuda a los estudiantes elegibles (<a id=\"agree-porcion-ests-1\" href=\"#\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">ver copia del acuerdo aqu\u00ed<\/span><\/a>).<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\">En acuerdo al <a id=\"agree-porcion-ests-2\" href=\"#\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">Agreement<\/span><\/a> establecido entre la UPR-Ponce y el gobierno federal, la ayuda de emergencia provista en virtud del CARES Act estar\u00e1 disponible para proporcionar, entre otras cosas, apoyo financiero a los estudiantes elegibles para los gastos relacionados con la interrupci\u00f3n de las operaciones del campus debido al coronavirus (incluidos los gastos elegibles bajo los costos de estudio, mejor conocido como Cost of Attendance, tales como alimentos, vivienda, materiales del curso, tecnolog\u00eda, atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica y cuidado infantil). Para ello, ser\u00e1 necesario que el estudiante sea <a id=\"req-eleg-titulo-iv\" href=\"#\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">elegible<\/span><\/a> para recibir ayuda de los fondos de T\u00edtulo IV y que documente su necesidad de asistencia para estos fondos de emergencia, accediendo al portal <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.upr.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">https:\/\/portal.upr.edu<\/span><\/a>, completando el documento correspondiente en el icono My Financial Aid y certificando el mismo.<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\">La Secci\u00f3n 18004(c) del CARES Act requiere que la Instituci\u00f3n utilice no menos del cincuenta porciento de los fondos asignados para proveer esta ayuda de emergencia a los estudiantes. En el caso de la UPR en Ponce, este cincuenta porciento asciende a la cantidad aprobada de 2,657,126. La cantidad m\u00e1xima que recibir\u00eda un estudiante elegible est\u00e1 estimada en los 1,150.00.<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-tabs-pane su-u-clearfix su-u-trim single_tab col-3 smart-width\" data-title=\"Lo que debo saber\"><\/p>\n<table style=\"text-align: justify;min-width: 96%\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: justify;min-width: 48%\">\n<blockquote>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\">El Departamento de Educaci\u00f3n ha establecido como criterio de elegibilidad que el estudiante a ser recipiente de la ayuda de emergencia del CARES Act tiene que ser elegible a los fondos de la secci\u00f3n 484 de Title IV del Higher Education Act de 1965, seg\u00fan enmendado (HEA). La forma m\u00e1s r\u00e1pida para documentar esta elegibilidad es completando la Solicitud Gratuita para Ayudas Econ\u00f3micas Federales para el a\u00f1o 2019-2020 (FAFSA, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s).<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\">Paralelamente al requisito de elegibilidad a los fondos de Titulo IV, el estudiante debe completar y certificar un documento donde justifique su necesidad para esta ayuda de emergencia con respecto a los gastos relacionados con la interrupci\u00f3n de las operaciones del campus debido al coronavirus. Los fondos provistos por virtus del HEERF deben ser utilizados para cubrir gastos relaciondos al costo de asistencia a clases, tales como alimentos, vivienda, materiales de cursos, tecnolog\u00eda, atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica y cuidado infantil). Todos los estudiantes elegibles, matriculados en el segundo semestre acad\u00e9mico del a\u00f1o fiscal 2019-2020, tanto a tiempo completo como y a tiempo parcial, as\u00ed como los estudiantes matriculados en el primer semestre acad\u00e9mico del 2020-2021 (agosto 2020), pueden utilizar el portal <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.upr.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">https:\/\/portal.upr.edu\/<\/span><\/a> para completar el documento que evidencia su necesidad como parte del proceso para acceder a estos fondos, sujeto a las condiciones establecidas por la reglamentaci\u00f3n.<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\">Para una lista completa de los criterios de elegibilidad a los fondos de T\u00edtulo IV, puede dirigirse al <a id=\"i-comunicado-29-abril\" href=\"#\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">comunicado del 29 de abril de 2020<\/span><\/a> enviado por el Vicepresidente de Asuntos Estudiantiles, Dr. Jos\u00e9 L. Perdomo. El estudiante que complete la FAFSA 2019-2020 b\u00e1sicamente presenta su informaci\u00f3n para determinar su elegibilidad a los fondos de T\u00edtulo IV. Aquellos estudiantes que no completen la FAFSA 2019-2020 deber\u00e1n presentar la documentaci\u00f3n especificada en el comunicado del Vicepresidente de Estudiantes ante la Oficina Program\u00e1tica de Asistencia Econ\u00f3mica, quienes determinar\u00e1n la elegibilidad a dichos fondos una vez presentada la documentaci\u00f3n o certificaci\u00f3n correspondiente.<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\">La Universidad de Puerto Rico en Ponce otorgar\u00e1 subvenciones del CARES Act correspondiente a estas ayudas de emergencia a los estudiantes, ya sea mediante dep\u00f3sito directo o cheque en papel. Los estudiantes pueden seleccionar el m\u00e9todo de pago de dep\u00f3sito directo para un servicio m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido, sin la necesidad de tener que esperar por un cheque a vuelta de correo. Los estudiantes que tienen activa su cuenta de dep\u00f3sito directo recibir\u00e1n la ayuda en su cuenta bancaria activa en su record estudiantil. No incluye estudiantes en mejoramiento profesional o tomando cursos remediales. La documentaci\u00f3n para este proyecto denominado <strong>At UPRP, we Keep Caring <\/strong>, se complet\u00f3 a trav\u00e9s del portal grants.gov, recibiendo aprobaci\u00f3n para comenzar el proyecto el 7 de mayo de 2020. En conjunto con el paquete de aplicaci\u00f3n para esta ayuda, la Instituci\u00f3n firm\u00f3 con el gobierno federal un segundo acuerdo, donde se compromete a cumplir con varios de requisitos para el uso de esta ayuda destinada a cubrir varias necesidades en la Instituci\u00f3n. Como se trata de un estimado, el noventa y cinco por ciento de los fondos aprobados (2.524.269) se han utilizado para calcular este c\u00f3mputo.
